Most if not all digital images require sharpening, even if shot on a state of the art digital megaresolution SLR with pin-sharp focusing. Most cameras or scanners can sharpen as the image is captured but the highest quality sharpening is to be found in the image editing software.

The picture slider grabs data from an xml file. It grabs the url of the image, a caption, and a url to go to when the image is clicked. Images are scaled based on their distance from the x mouse position, getting larger as they get closer to the mouse.

Venetian classical painters had a passion for moody and tempestuous skies (just Google the Tempest by Giorgione to see one such example). I now find it hard to look at an image of Venice with a featureless sky. The sky is an essential ingredient of any memorable landscape image.
