Futuristic Header in Photoshop

A photoshop tutorial to creating a very slick, very futuristic looking header for your web templates.

Step 1:

Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 1000×300 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color shade. In a new layer draw a long rectangle with 968×154 px dimensions and #C8FFFA color shade, this will be the header background.

Step 2:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Satin and Gradient Overlay blending options to the header background layer.

Step 3:

Make a new layer set titled ‘Glow Lights’. Then select the Pen Tool with Paths on. On the header background create a swirly path line similar to the image below. Click Here to view a detailed image of the path lines.

Step 4:

On your sidebar menu set the foreground color to #00B8A6 color shade. Then while the Path Tool is selected right click on the canvas for a menu to appear, choose Stroke Path and use the same settings below.

Step 5:

Right click on your canvas and choose Delete paths to delete the line path. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow and Outer Glow blending options. Set the layer’s blending mode to Soft Light.

Step 6:

Duplicate swirly line layer without any layer styles attached. Now go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur, apply the settings below.
